you write like you're not a complete idiot, but you didn't really answer my curiousity. how can you take inspiration from a person who is clearly anti god. the church of satan is what it is, don't try to justify it by saying "it has nice people in it". the church of satan and the church of god(as messed up has it is) are and can not be mix and intertwinned together, you/ we need to imbrace god whole and let go of our past and move forward, to me read your last post you don't seemed to have done that, it just read like you were trying to justify your past to yourself. and your post didn't piss me off, just wish you didn't dance around like a boy band, and just answer the question(curousity)

Greetings,
Quote from badmanmorgan (I don't know how to do the fancy quotes like y'alls...lol)
I also studied the cos(some of that stuff is fascinating)and my conclusions(just my opinion here)are that it seems the majority of people I talked to in the cos, are in it to justify their penchant for sex(and some deviant sexual practices)and to rebel against the norm. So many people are blind! The greatest rebel of them all is there waiting for them, but they refuse to see! end quote.
I didn't mean to excuse anyone in the CoS of their actions, nor to say they are all people whom I'd like to have as a neighbor or babysit my kids. I'll try again to explain the thought going through my head. A lot of the people that live in 1st world countries seem to worship themselves, money, and sex. Which is exactly what the CoS worships. So is the CoS really any worse than the rest of America? I actually think they pose less of a threat because instead of hiding behind falsehoods they come out and tell you what they think. I also think they are easier to lead to Christ because they seem to be more ready to give you their honest opinion of Christianity, not one that is socially acceptable. Most don't seem to understand who Jesus really was, they seem to think Jesus was some judgemental jerk who ran around saying "You can't do that!"
In one of the worst injustices of eternity Jesus has been painted as a Pharisee.
On a seperate note. I was totally unaware of Carl Sagan's conversion. Where can I find more information on that. I coordinate the Beginners special interest group in the Minnesota Astronomical Society. www.mas.org There are a number of us Christians in the society who I would love to share that information with. I've always respected Carl's work with astronomy and cosmology, whether I agreed with everything or not, but found his utter disrespect for the thought of God quite discomforting.

Hey I figured out how to quote....yay me....
I didn't mean to dance around the issue, I guess I just got sidetracked on a tangent. Sorry about that I'll try and more directly answer your question.
I quote LaVey, not because I admire him, but because I understand that even the most hard hearted sinnner (and can you think of a more hard hearted sinner than LaVey?) can speak truth. I don't think you have to admire or respect a man/woman to take their words to heart.
I think it's funny how many of the CoS's rules are actually tenants of Christianity, or have Christian tenants at their core: Don't harm kids, don't whine, be respectful of others, don't always tell people what to do (Proverbs 17:28), and don't steal.
If only LaVey had gotten around to actually reading the Bible he might have become one heck of an evangelical preacher. Look what became of Saul, I think LaVey had a gift from God to lead and sway peoples opinions and he squandered it on himself.
So to sum up and not dance (there are state laws against me dancing...it's not pretty and people tend to get hurt). I quote LaVey because I respect the truth of his statement(s), however I don't respect the man himself. He just makes a good topic of conversation and a way to start up a conversation about Jesus with a non-Christian.

how the hang do you quote
irespect your opinion, i still think it's a bit out there to quote sources that are on the other side of the fence to gods. i hear your arguements, i would question the le vay truth and call it a half truth or even 1/3 truth,
i believe there is 3 sides to every story(i'm a big fan of extreme) there is mine-yours and gods, and sadly anton pushed his own. i can understand the frustration of the individual thats has been hurt, is being hurt by the church because i've been there many times, but that doesn't give them the right to tar everyone with in the church with the same brush, it is wrong and unfair. i admit i know nothing about anton le vay or his life perhaps i should do some unbiased reading.

any thing Anton has said thats anywhere remote to truth has already been said by Jesus seeing as how He is the way, truth, and light. It just would have been said in different words is all. Go ahead, look it up it the Bible, if you really want the truth God will give it to you (and it wont bee thru a false religion seeing as how God can not speak to/hear/touch/look at sin).
For Eternity...

What's the deal on quoting Anton LaVey on here? I think this is inappropriate. Well, I know it's just chat about anything.... but a Satanist? Really? Well, I knew a man who read the Satanic Bible to witness to these people. But he said you had to be pretty strong in The Lord to do that. He warned the average Christian against it.

Greetings,
I really don't want to discuss the LaVey thing any further.
I tried to make my point earlier in this thread. I'm not sure if I properly conveyed my reasons for quoting, but I don't feel like trying again at this time.
I will continue to use it as a quote until Shane, or someone with equal or greater authority tells me to stop.
I would urge you to read the entire thread before posting. You will find it helpful not just on this forum, but as a general rule for Life, The Universe, and Everything. Read first, ask questions later. Remember Proverbs 17:28. I'll let you look it up as practice.
