Blessings and peace to you in the name of Jesus, Yeshua our Savior!   :rock:

This is Teddy.  I live in Jerusalem.  I have a praise band called Yerubilee and I'm involved in the 24/7 prayer movement.  Why this is important will make sense in a moment.

Here's a prayer request which is CRUCIAL for believers around the world to wrap their brains around and start to implement.  It's WAY bigger than my life, my needs, and my personal prayer requests (which I do have) that I'm not mentioning here.

Psa 122:6       Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

This is one of the few commands in the Bible about WHAT to pray for.  We have many general exhortations; pray without ceasing (1Th 5:17) as well as some other encouragements thru example to lift up each other in prayer: Act 12:5, 1Th 1:3, 1Th 2:13, 2Ti 1:3.

We have the LORD's prayer, or I like to call it the Disciples' Prayer - because Yeshua taught this to the disciples for THEM to pray.  "Our Father who art in heaven... THY KINGDOM COME... on earth as it is in heaven..." (Matt 6)

What does it mean to pray for His Kingdom to come, and to be here, as glorious as it is in heaven already?

Let's look back again at Psalm 122.  Verse 6 says to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

So here we have perhaps the only two commands in the Bible regarding WHAT to pray for specifically - one is for Jerusalem, and the other is for His Kingdom to come.  Interesting.  What if they're related?

Isa 62:6-7      I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, [which] shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, (7) And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

WOW!  We are called to give HIM no rest until He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth!  Is Jerusalem today a praise in the earth?  Hardly!  It's the center of the biggest conflict and strife the world has ever seen.  The most hotly contested piece of real estate on the planet.  We normally have war constantly in one form or another; Iran wanting to wipe us out with nukes, "war of words" when nations question Israel's right to even exist, and of course the occasional terrorist attack and the constant rockets being shot over the southern border - which no country in their right mind would tolerate.  I'm not talking politics here - I'm just pointing out that RIGHT NOW Jerusalem is far from being a "Praise in the Earth."

So how do we pray this?   :rock:

First, we take the scripture and choose to believe it.  Psalm 122 commands us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, so let's do that.

Second, we take Jesus' words seriously.  He instructed us, His disciples, to pray for His Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.

You see?  When we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, what we're really praying for is His Kingdom to arrive.

We're praying for His triumphant return in the clouds of heaven.  That's the only way peace will come to Jerusalem.
His return is the only way that Jerusalem will be a praise in the earth.

  • Will you join me in praying for His peace in Israel, according to Psalm 122:6?
  • Will you pray with me for the LORD to make Jerusalem a praise in the earth (Isa 62:7)?
  • Will you seek the LORD about whether you are called to be a watchman (Isa 62:6)?
  • Will you actually pray with understanding, praying for His Kingdom to come to Earth as it is in Heaven (Mt 6)?
  • Will you pray for His return?

Rev 12:10       And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Thank you for reading this far.  May the LORD's written Word, and His spoken Word lead and guide you.

Blessings,

Teddy,

Jerusalem

Other scriptures mentioned:
Act 12:5       Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
Rom 1:9     For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;

1Th 1:3     Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

1Th 2:13     For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

1Th 5:17     Pray without ceasing.
2Ti 1:3     I thank God, whom I serve from [my] forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
