So, my job right now is to convince people that they need things that they really don't. People come into the store I work at looking for material things that they "need" to "improve" their life, and I help to convince them that this is a good thing, and that they needed the highest quality thing that they can afford. I'm trying to reconcile this, but the closest thing I can come to is a part of Luke 20:25 '"Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."' (NIV) This doesn't quite seem to fit, though. I think I am going to seek guidance from someone more knowledgeable than myself on this one, but a piece of advice I once heard or read sticks in my head: "A feeling from an unknown source that you can't explain away is God talking to you." Just needed to put this down in writing.

Sales is not a job I would want personally and I don't envy you. I think it is hard to find that line of integrity vs pleasing your employer, they obviously want you to sell the highest priced item with the most mark-up, and the customer might not need or even be able to afford it. I don't know that I really have good advice to share, I think it is something where a good amount of prayer and seeking God's will is needed. If this is not where He wants you, then He can open another door somewhere else... but maybe there is a reason you are there for now, and if it is where He wants you, you need to do your job to the best of your ability to glorify Him.
